Requests?
Hey, folks.
The kids are in bed, Jamie’s baking some new amazing pumpkiny cake, and I’m just finishing up packing for the trip tomorrow. We’re heading to Virginia then Louisiana with a more or less completed version of Resurrection Letters, Vol. II. The Captains and I spent the day at Todd Robbins’s mixing studio tweaking the songs until they’re just right, and as of tonight I feel confident that we’ve done the very best job we could do. It feels so, so good to have this record wrapped up. It’ll feel even better when it’s packaged and ready for public consumption. I sure hope it’s a blessing to folks.
So in the process of packing I was thinking about our set list, wondering if we were in fact playing the songs that you guys want to hear. So let me have it. Which songs have we not been playing that you want to hear, which songs have we been playing too often, which songs should we work up new arrangements of?
We aim to please.
Have a great weekend.
AP

I’ve always thought a cover of Rich’s Elijah would be amazing!

I like the idea of a cover or two. I have a great memory of hearing “The Color Green” at a show in Cedar Rapids, Iowa many moons ago, though I think it was played during the sound check–which actually makes it even cooler.
One contingency I might request is that I would only want to add a cover or two if we didn’t have to give up any other AP tunes.
In particular, I’d still like to hear “Danny’s Song,” which is one of the songs that falls on this list of “our songs.” Somebody offered me a bootleg of that song, but I never received it. Anyway, maybe that’s a “been there, done that,” item.
“You’ve Got a Friend” or “Fire and Rain” would be darn fun too.
Can we request stories? I have a vague recollection of one of the funniest stories I’ve ever heard told–maybe Rick from Georgia will remember this one because he was there–of visiting a prison in Florida.
Seriously, I really appreciate variety. For those of us that see you a lot, it’s fun to see the various versions of your stories. In particular, I get a kick out of how “The Chasing Song” introduction shrank from a two or three minute narrative to, “Here’s a song about how I’m such a jerk.”
Oh, and “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad.”

Well Andy, it’s been a couple years since I’ve had the pleasure of seeing you perform…far too long. Getting out of Central Pennsylvania to see a show isn’t always easy. Anyway, I’ve been to 5 or so of your show starting way back when and you had come to York, PA and played a small church there…might have been a couple hundred people in attendance, if that…what an evening!
I saw the Christmas Tour way back when you were doing that with Silars Bald and Laura Story was still with them. Another amazing evening.
Anyway, sence I have not seen you lately I don’t know what it is you’ve been playing or not. But my list of favorites is as follows and so I would love to hear any of these tunes if I had the opportunity. I’m not one of those who wants to hear only the “hits”…I feel if you go to see an artist perform let them play whatever they feel lead to play. In your case however “The Spirit” moves you.

In the Nebraska show on the 27th, would it be possible to play Just As I Am or High Noon? That’d be fantastic!
Also, does Andy have “More of a man back then” on iTunes? I haven’t been able to find that anywhere! If he’s up to it, it’d be nice to have him play that too!
