One Minute Review: The Muppets
It’s time to play the music
It’s time to light the lights
But is it time to see the new Muppet movie?
The One Minute Review has all the answers.
[Editor's note: on the Rabbit Room tonight.]
Oh, and if you feel so led, check out the OMR of Melancholia. Kind of the opposite of the Muppets. http://www.oneminutereview.com/2011/12/melancholia.html

Total agreement on “The Muppets.” And I mean total, because there definitely was a bit of tearing up at times. And I couldn’t believe they gave a quick nod to “The Benny Hill Show” with the tune at the very end. Fantastic…

Okay, here’s the thing, I thought the Muppets was really good for a lot of reasons. The opening two acts, especially the first, is so funny the way they don’t take themselves so seriously
ie…
“Sorry the flowers are damaged…it must have happened while I was doing a song and dance number!”
Some of the songs are real catchy (Even the rap) and, “Muppet of a man.”
But the true test of a movie being good or not is is it rewatchable?
Do you love it the same or more after viewing number two?
I saw it twice, and viewing number two was nowhere close to viewing number one.
Also the third act could’ve been better.
And my other problem is that, where were the big name stars?
And when they did put a funny luminary in there (Jack Black, Zack Galifuh-dontknowhowtospellhisname) they weren’t funny or had a super insignificant role.
And the climax is a whistle warble?
really?
Worth seeing for sure!
Kids will love it!
And you will too.
Just let about 43 months pass before watching it again.

Ah, I LOVED seeing The Muppets after so many years. It was like catching up with an old friend. . . or a bunch of old friends. I loved Amy Adams and Jason Segal (sp?) and how they played their characters. I love Amy Adams anyway, but she was super in this movie. I also loved that the “new muppet’s” human alter was one of my favorite actors ever. That pairing was perfect.
And, of course, I loved, loved, loved how Miss Piggy was true to herself and came in with that piggy “swagger”.
If you haven’t seen it, you should go and enjoy it.
I’m sure I’d tire of it after seeing it twice, and I probably would wait about 43 months before watching it again, but at the end of that 43 months, I think I’d enjoy it as much as the first time. C’mon, it’s the MUPPETS!
PS. There was a sweet little family sitting behind us in the theater, and when the muppets began singing “Life’s a Happy Song”, their little girl started singing it at the top of her lungs, then quieted way down, but her sweet little voice still soared above the the the muppets’ singing. It made me smile and cry. She was so happy and was so into this movie, it reminded me of how I used to sing along with those crazy muppets. . . yes, even in my 20′s.
So go see it, people! It’ll make you happy. Unless you are soulless.

I finally saw it today with my sister and it made us ridiculously happy. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun in a movie. Best of all, we were the only ones in the theater, so we could laugh as obnoxiously and often as we wanted. (Though given the plot of the movie, maybe that’s kind of sad.)
And the chickens covering Cee-Lo… was that a homage to the Grammy performance that was a homage to Elton John on the Muppet Show? That’s a double win right there.

A movie made primarily to make me and my kids happy? What a novel concept! This is one we’re going to have to see (and the fact that it’s the all-time awesome Muppets doesn’t hurt one iota).
