Land of the Living – Free for One Week
Matthew Perryman Jones is celebrating the one year anniversary of the making of Land of the Living (not to be confused with the also great Eric Peters album of the same name) by giving it away for free for one week only. It’s one of my favorite records of the year. If you don’t have it yet, head over to Noisetrade and pick it up (and leave a tip—musicians deserve to be paid).

YES! I’ve been wanting this ever since I heard “O Theo” for the first time, but I’ve been rottenly short on money all year. Time for a party.

Food for thought: Noisetrade provides the public a great opportunity to give an artist more than they would receive if you simply bought their record on iTunes or CD.

This whole record, for me, is about the anticipation of hearing MPJ bellow, “I am coming home,” at the end of the last song. Goosebump City.

This album is probably the best I’ve heard all year. I got to meet MPJ at the Blood Water Mission free concert that he did with Derek Webb last month. He is a very humble person and his music should be shared with the masses.

And I found out via Twitter yesterday (from the virtual pen of MPJ) that vinyl is on the horizon for this record. Huzzah!

If you know someone (or are someone) struggling with the recent loss of a loved one, the last two songs “The Angels Were Singing” and “The Land of the Living” are for you. They were balm on the broken places of my heart this summer after my Dad passed away while I was interning in Nashville…
The CD release party was the same night that I found out. It was a Spirit directed moment of worship that night. You’ll be blessed as well…
