One Minute Review: Fantastic Mr. Fox
I have finally reviewed Fantastic Mr. Fox! Did George Clooney redeem himself after that Men Who Stare at Goats fiasco? Has Wes Anderson made a mistake by going into stop motion animation? Find out.

A.S. Peterson has crafted a work of compelling historical fiction which begs the question, “Can this really be a debut novel?” With dogged fidelity, Peterson captures the spirit, manners, and social conditions present during the American Revolutionary War. We meet colorful, credible characters who navigate the high seas of life and love, dependence and independence, war and peace, truth and consequence, and despite forays into dark places, The Fiddler’s Gun is beautiful, lyrical, and redemptive.
I loved, Loved, LOVED this movie! It was a total redemption for George Clooney’s ridiculous and un-funny MWSAGs. I laughed my head off, too, Thomas. I would even go see it again if given the chance. The “what the cuss” lines didn’t bother me at all. They were much better than what is so often said today! =)
Oh man… Taya and I LOVED this movie, and our kids did too. I’m not a laugh out loud kind of guy usually when it comes to movies - even the funniest ones - but I laughed out loud repeatedly in this movie. You could even say I laughed my cuss off.
And I loved the “cuss” bit - especially the one where Fox and (badger? whatever Bill Murray was) started going back at forth “are you cussing me out?” “are you cussing me out?” and then it degraded into snarling and growling. It’s sounds lame when I explain it, but it was always a funny little bit that reminded you, “oh yeah, these are feral animals…”
I was only a little bummed by the “cluster-cuss” line, only because up until then the “cuss words” were ambiguous, and that one made me fill in the blank and it was an unwelcome jolt out of the movie for me. But that’s my one and only complaint, and it’s subjective I suppose.
This was a movie that as soon as it was over, I couldn’t wait to see it again. Can’t wait for it to come out on DVD! I plan to watch the Whackball sequence frame by frame…
Here is most of the wack bat sequence:

Loved. It.
Agree about the cussin’. Enjoyed it at first, but it started getting a little old towards the end.
“Heroes and Villians” is one of my favorite songs of all time, so this movie had me at the first chicken coop raid. I also loved the nod to Burl Ives and to Disney’s Robin Hood. I’m sure there were more things like that to be enjoyed the second time around.
Favorite scene might be the toy train.
Good to hear that kids enjoyed it. Our theater was pretty empty aside from a few small families with kids who were silent for the whole thing. Couldn’t tell if they were captivated or sleeping.
I’m ready to see it again. We’ll definitely own this one.
Hot box!
